Reo ki te Kāinga was born from a desire to remove as many barriers as possible, for whānau wanting to embark on their reo journey. Three generations of whānau are involved in the process, supporting one another to cultivate te reo Māori in their household.

Led by Experience – Ngā Kaihautū Tāne Programme
Ngā Kaihautū is a 10-week leadership programme that brings together tāne from all walks of life. The name serves as a reminder of the potential they have to steer their lives in whatever direction they choose. Kevin Pahina who is a facilitator of the programme, says the name Ngā Kaihautū is taken from the captain of a traditional waka. “The overall goal is to give them the ability to command their own waka and be kaihautū whether it be of their own lives, or those of their whānau.”

Yesterday we celebrated our Whānau Ora paeārahi for all of their awesome mahi over the past year.
Te Iho Tapairu – Cohort 7
8 wāhine from cohort 7 joined kaimahi on Wednesday the 10th July, for the Te Iho Tapairu programme whakatau. This was a new process for some of the women in attendance, the start of many firsts as they venture into a space that is unfamiliar.
Matariki Wānanga Series 2024
This year’s series of 5 Matariki wānanga, empowered whānau to hold their own hautapu ceremonies at home. Our 7 guest speakers each shared insight on differing kaupapa, while providing whānau with plenty of encouragement and tips to make the process less daunting.
Decolonisation Wānanga
Decolonisation was the kaupapa last weekend at Tangatarua Marae. 55 people of differing age and ethnicity travelled from across the motu to Rotorua, to attend the wānanga facilitated by Te Ururoa Flavell. The focus of the wānanga was to delve into the history of Aotearoa, and bring about a deeper understanding on the current state of Māori.
Whānau Day
Kotahitanga was the theme for the Te Arawa Whānau Ora whānau day, at the Medical Officers Reserve on Wednesday.
