On 1 July 2015 the ACC levy portion of your vehicle licensing fee (rego) is going down by an average of 41% depending on your type of vehicle. To make sure you don't pay more than necessary you may want to consider opting for a shorter licensing renewal period, for example three or six months. That way you'll be ready to take full advantage of the new lower price when your vehicle licence comes up for renewal after July 2015.

If you own a vehicle that needs to be relicensed between now 1 July 2015, there is something you can do to take full advantage of the big drop, and save money, possibly plenty.
- Firstly, what you should not do is relicense for a full year when you next relicense.
- What you should do is relicense only for the number of months from when your current license expires, up to and including June 2015.
The relicencing form allows you to relicence for any number of months from 3 to 12, so don’t think that you have to relicence for 12 months. You don’t.
Don’t be sheepish or whakama to relicense for less than 12 months. No-one will ask you why. You are not doing something that you are not entitled to do.
A drop like this won’t happen again, so make the most of it!
