Support is also being generously provided by Kokiri Marae and Rangatahi Tū Rangatira – Tāonga Tākaro.
The focus this year is on Atuatanga based physical activity, activities where knowledge from our tipuna can inform our activities today. According to Dr Ihirangi Heke, a staunch Māori health promoter, It's all about reconnecting, "what can we learn from our Atua and Tipuna that will help our whakapapa continue?"
"Since colonisation our health in general has taken a turn for the worse and the western system does not work for Maori so we need to find our own solutions, by Māori, for Māori from Te Ao Māori."
This year's hui is for health providers who deliver the Rangatahi Tū Rangatahi programme in their rohe. We'll provide a report back in coming issues.
