The theme of the day is Ngati Whakaue's role as guardians and protectors of the waters and land in Maketu, organiser Tony Pecotic told the Daily Post.
He went on to add that "the day had something for everyone including a wearable arts parade using material found in Maketu, children's activities, food, music, tours of the area, and more.
Information stalls from groups like Fisheries Taiopurea and Lakes Trust will allow visitors to learn about the tribe's future plans, education and job opportunities, and grants.
Free buses provided for those needing transport or not wanting to drive to Maketu.
Buses will depart from Rotorua at 8.45am & depart from Maketu at 4.15pm to return to Rotorua.
- Bus 1 departs from Waiteti Marae + pick up at Parawai Marae
- Bus 2 departs Taharangi Marae. Koutu + pick up at Soundshell
- Bus 3 departs Hurunga Marae, Ngāpuna + pick up Owhata Marae Hinemoa Point
