The main purpose of Matakōkiri is to provide science and technology activities for our ākonga that would not normally be available to them. For this wānanga, Te Ihi, Te Wehi, Te Wana is our kaupapa with an emphasis on natural and man-made forces (water, geothermal energy and weather) and kaitiakitanga.
Please note: This wānanga is a noho that will be based at Waipahihi Marae, Taupo where we will be staying for 2 nights. For this reason parents and/or caregivers will be required to stay with their tamariki during the wānanga as Kaihāpai.
Our wānanga will begin by acknowledging and learning about our tupuna, kaitiaki,Ngātoroirangi & Tuwharetoa connections. Some of the locations we’re planning to visit are:
- Wairakei Terraces
- Wairakei (GNS)
- Ruapehu/ Whakapapa Ski field
- Taupo Volcanic Centre
Registrations for this wānanga will close at 5:00pm on Friday 26th June 2015. Please read the criteria carefully to ensure you have completed all the requirements. The final programme will be confirmed towards the end of June along with other important updates.
