Youth rising up with new website


A youth driven website encouraging the community and young people to ‘Rise Up’ has been launched.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Pikiao have been working alongside 2morrows Rangatira to develop their ‘Rise Up’ movement. A digital hub that provides encouragement, information and support on many issues rangatahi face.

It tackles topics such as cyber tikanga, where to find help and support for the LGBTIQ community.

2morrows Rangatira, are made up of mainly school age secondary school students from Rotorua and Reporoa, have been meeting for the last two years to look at leadership initiatives in suicide prevention.

Their standout achievements thus far have been advising on the programme for World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference and Youth Summit; running of the Whānau Day event in Reporoa; and development of their Rangathi and LGBTIQ website; and attendance at a Turamarama Leadership programme.
